Shelly's Snippets
* I'm so thankful that my girls play so well together--Amelie is the most loving and kind big sister, and is a great helper to her little sister at the park and the pool! i'm proud to be their mother!
* Maeve has started saying Amelie very distinctly, "Ahh maaaa leeee!" it is so cute!
* I need a new point and shoot digital camera--my pocket camera is fading fast! and I don't have room to tote around my big digital for the everyday stuff!
* Just found out that not only did our insurance coverage change this year, but my husband's school switched providers, right in the middle of my pregnancy. Something tells me that this is going to be annoying for me! Ahhhh! But, at the same time, I'm thankful for insurance!
* Still am not used to wearing a maternity bathing suit every-single-day-in-public. I'm pretty sure I'll never get used to it.
* TMI: I smashed my toe this week and now have half a toe nail on my pinky toe. So sad =(
* Loves Jersey Fresh Blueberries!
* Needs another vacation!
* Needs to start going to bed earlier!
* Excited that we have NOTHING to do this weekend!
* Enjoys Nameless Baby Weber and all of his kicking but does not appreciate that he only starts kicking at night, just as I finally get comfortable enough to fall asleep =)
Happy Thursday!

Yay for Day One Of Month SEVEN!!
Your Baby
Your baby isn't just sitting around doing nothing, he's working hard preparing for life outside the womb—perfecting his lungs and packing on the pounds. He'll gain 1/2 pound this week alone. Other highlights this week:
- Things are starting to get a little crowded inside the old womb as baby grows bigger and bigger. Your ribs are probably pining away for the good old days when they didn't have a foot permanently lodged between them. Hate to break it to you, but it's going to get worse before it gets better.
- Your baby's ears are fully functional now. And since they are, you may notice that loud noises and sudden movements can startle the little bugger. He's getting used to the everyday sounds inside the womb: the sound of your heart beating, your lungs inhaling and exhaling air, the growling of your stomach.
- Baby's got a fully developed inner ear now. This means his sense of balance is working and he can tell whether he's hanging upside down or right side up. He can also feel you moving, so go ahead, pop in your favorite tunes and boogie.
- Your little Wiener schnitzel is about the length of a foot-long Chicago hot dog and weighs about 1 1/3 pounds.

4th Of July Festivities
Maeve at her first hometown parade! It was so fun and the girls got buckets of candy and enjoyed all of it immensely...except, of course, for the civil war re-enact-or-people with their noisy muskets! ack!

Amelie's first fourth of july parade (since she was an infant!).
She also went to see her first fireworks!
They were a little up close and personal (i.e. intense). She wasn't phased at all but I sure was as I was getting hit in the head, face etc. by debris, smoke and flying firework objects in the air. Yikes.

Shelly's Snippets
* had a lovely week with the girls--so much fun at the pool, the park and spending time together at home--they are such a joy!
* enjoyed reading your comments on my "i'm broken" post--and so glad that i'm not the only one that feels broken when pregnant! ayyyeee!!
* feels like the future could be/is/might be totally up in the air for us. do we move? look elsewhere? sometimes starting fresh sounds so good and sometimes thinking about it just makes me tired and discouraged. praying, as always, for open doors (or closed) and confidence in the Plan HE has.
* so thankful for my husband--he totally gets me and gives me exactly what i need. it's kind of amazing!
* finally. finally. finally got a stinkin' haircut! yay for no more split ends and dark brown roots peekin' out! woot!
* needs to move next door to S.R.V. like, yesterday. sheesh.
*also needs to take it easy buying baby boy's clothes--but, seriously--have you seen how many places are having A-Mazing sales right now? it's ridiculous! i'm trying not to get ahead of myself (that's hard for the planner in me!).
* thinks texting while driving, cell phone chatting while checking out, itsy bitsy bikinis, squirt guns, mullets, parents-screaming-(at-the-park)-instead of actually disciplining their children ought all be banned/made illegal/etc.
* is excited for the 4th of July parade! and other 4th-y events. woot!

I Think I'm Raising Jersey Girls (Not that there's anything wrong with that =)

Sometimes it's weird to me that my girls are growing up someplace so different than where I'm from.
I grew up on a farm, with a hundred acres, our closest neighbor was our grandparents, my closest friend was my puppy, my horse and whatever life was creeping about the place.
I spent a lot of time alone, quiet, outside, reading.
Traffic only occurred on Sunday when 4 cars would drive by the house on their way to church.
And we knew who was driving every single car ever that drove by!
We swam at the reservoir or at a lake and spent our vacations camping.
You had to drive 20 minutes to get anywhere.
You had to drive an hour to get to the mall.
There were no Targets.
(Just let that one sink in a little!)
******************************************
My girls live in the land of everything-that-you-need-in-life-exists-in-our-3-mile-radius
(in triplicate even).
We go to the mall once a week--and take them out to eat as well!
(I never went out to eat on a regular basis until I started dating Mr. Wonderful--who says it's only men whose hearts you can find via their stomach? =)
I had dined merely at Pizza Hut, KFC and Mc Donalds and had no idea what an Applebees was.
We don't run in the fields--we play at the park or parks (there are many close by).
We take walks through town and not through the woods.
We all love Target.
***************************************
I can't say I'm entirely used to being here.
But I can say, beyond a doubt, that I am thankful to be here with my family, my friends and the many, many Malls.
And although I may still love farm living, lake swimming, country-dwelling life over the life of a Jersey girl, I'm thankful for my little Jersey girls and their Jersey Father and our Heavenly Father who loves us just the same in the city as He does in the country.
Amen and Happy Sunday ya'll!

Maeve's Mode Of Transportation
An interesting, exciting, adventurous age!
Little Miss Maeve has quickly adopted an independent personality, become mostly uncontainable and has developed a dislike of being in the stroller when big sister is walking around so I pulled out an old trick. We bought this puppy backpack for Amelie when she was about the same age--only, it never really worked for her. Amelie loved to run as fast as she could with the thing on and sling shot back to us. It was awful! We gave it up immediately! But Maeve enjoyed her freedom and was a bit more sensible when wearing her leash =)

S'Wonderful! S'Marvelous!
We spent hours on the boards
What an excellent vacation! I was worried our parade would be rained on but it was actually lovely! The girls loved all things water, beach, swimming, sand, shells etc. And I loved sitting on a beach chair watching them have tons of fun! What a joy and delight!Vacation rocks!
((Being at home rocks too--you know, except for the after-vacay-clean-up. =))
